Mayor of León announces 2.4 billion pesos public works’ budget for 2017

Leon, Guanajuato. – “Next year, the municipality of León will exercise an amount for 2.4 billion pesos (120 million USD) in public works”, announced Mayor Héctor López Santillana.

The resource comes from the federal state and municipal governments, and one of the infrastructure priorities will be the conclusion of the “Timoteo Lozano Boulevard” -from “Atotonilco” to the “Tajo of Santa Ana”-.

On Wednesday December 07, during a public works event in this municipality, and in the presence of Governor Miguel Márquez Márquez, Mayor Héctor López Santillana said: “in León, we will close the year with an investment in infrastructure of 3.6 billion pesos”.

López Santillana stated: “2017 will be a good year for León, and any crisis experienced at a national level will not affect the development of our city”.

Carlos Alberto Cortés Galván, Director of Municipal Public Works, explained that the complete rehabilitation of Mariano Escobedo Boulevard is one of the other infrastructure works projected for next year.

“We also continue working on the “Siglo XXI boulevard” , as well as the rehabilitation of the west and east roads of the “Tajo de Santa Ana”, where it is also contemplated the construction of two bridges”.

“The rehabilitation of the “Malecón del Río” – from Torres Landa to Timoteo Lozano – will also take place during 2017”, said Cortés Galván.

“We are going to improve the access to the city to give it a better image, we are also contemplating the rescue of the neighborhoods and the main squares, such as San Juan de Dios, San Francisco del Coecillo, San Juan del Coecillo and the continuity of the Pedestrian Route project (Ruta del Peatón),” the official continued.

The 2.4 billion pesos include federal resources from diverse programs, for executive projects. It is expected that the projected works will start on January or February, 2017.
