“La Casa de las Nueces” is an architectural jewel with lush foliage and 3 levels of terrazas in San Miguel’s Centro

Embraced by towering nut trees, La Casa de las Nueces is a safe and pleasant 3-4 block walk to the Jardin.

The casa is entered via a centuries- old arched canterra doorway, guarded from above by a statue of San Miguel, the patron of our pueblo.

A natural stone fountain serenades the entryway, across from an arched opening that provides a glimpse of the Escheresque stairway to the upper levels.

The spacious living room is graced by a chiminea and open beamed 14 ft. ceilings. A canterra arch dating from the original construction transitions into the dining room. An antique mesquite mesa sits 8 people comfortably.

The well equipped kitchen adjoins the breakfast room, which has the original hearth area, and a sunlit office with Wi-Fi and internet available. A shaded terraza outside the breakfast room invited you to dine alfresco, surrounded by arches and sheltered by the imaginative boveda and cupola.

Two colorful king-size suites are located on opposite sides of the living room. The Master Bedroom is large and spacious, with a cupola skylight & a chiminea perfect for romantic nights.

The Master Bath has a Jacuzzi tub surrounding by natural stone emerging through the walls, and a spectacular stained glass partition separating the tub from the large, well-lit central area of the bathroom. The design is unique, created in harmony with the natural beauty surrounding the casa. There is a separate shower area as well.

The second suite is also quire large and has a chiminea as well as a private arched entrance from the front patio. This suite has a beautifully tiled bathroom with sunken tub, graced by a mural on the shower wall.

Ascending the dramatic stairs, you arrive on the largest terraza, with comfortable conversation areas, surrounded by colorful arches & sheltered by a tiled roof and skylights. The table and chairs under a beautifully crafted boveda create an attractive alcove . This level is perfectly positioned for watching the beautiful birds that visit our trees. Also on this level is a covered kitchen area with sink, gas stovetop and a BBQ grill.

Soaring above the treetops, the uppermost terraza beckons with stunning vistas of scarlet sunsets, sparkling fireworks and moonlit Mexico. Illuminated cathedrals in the Centro are framed by majestic mountains beyond the lake.

A washer and drier are available on the main level. There is protected parking inside the gate for one vehicle and a neighborhood estacionamiento (parking lot) is about 1/2 block away

Additionally, on a lower level of the casa, there is a small casita area with separate entrance, equipped with a comfortable queen sized bed, a fold out futon and a private bath with shower. This area is not elegant but is a great sleeping option for teenagers & overflow guests. This is not included in the current rates but arrangements can be made if the area is needed.
