CUBAFEST is in San Miguel!

CUBAFEST Festival is here again, 16 consecutive years of Cuban culture. Dolores Hidalgo, serves as a special headquarters along with San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato.

This year CUBAFEST pays homage to Celina González (1929-2015) and Ignacio Jacinto Villa “Bola de Nieve” (1911-1971).

“The Festival of Cuban Culture”, will have as special headquarters Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, Guanajuato capital and its traditional headquarters in San Miguel de Allende.

In San Miguel de Allende, CUBAFEST will screen two first line island films.

On Wednesday the 13th at 6:00 in the afternoon: “We are all music, Eliades Ochoa in Santiago de Cuba”, by the director Patricia Ferreira.

“Nosotros la música”, by director Rogelio Paris, will be screened on Thursday 14, 6: 00 in the afternoon as a documentary tribute to “Bola de Nieve”.

The venue for these cinematographic exhibitions will be the Miguel Malo auditorium of the Ignacio Ramírez Cultural Center “El Nigromante” (INBA)..

The musical tribute to Celina González will take place in the most important artistic forum in the state of Guanajuato, the emblematic Juarez Theater in the state capital. This tribute will be offered on Saturday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m.

The culminating point of CUBAFEST 2019 will be in charge of the outstanding Cubanísimo Quartet, under the direction of flute player Yuneisi Sastre, who will present a dance-concert at the Plaza San Fernando in Guanajuato Capital.

Two cultural world heritage cities, one magical town, twelve venues, thirty Cuban artists, twenty Mexican artists, more than forty national and foreign dancers, three premiere films, four gastronomic events including Cuban gourmet cocktails… that’s what 16 years of CUBAFEST in Guanajuato is all about.
