Guanajuato state secretary of Tourism Teresa Matamoros, informed that San Miguel de Allende will host a new luxury hotel.

A new headquarters of The Chatwal will open its doors in San Miguel de Allende. The Chatwal is a hotel brand that operates in the United States and is a New York City icon, located in the heart of Manhattan.

The Chatwal Hotel
Since opening in 2010, The Chatwal Hotel has been offering exquisite accommodations and a fresh perspective on the city’s luxury hotel experience. Situated on the NYC theatre district’s Great White Way, the circa-1905 building salutes the “baby grand” hotels of a bygone era, blending the past with the future while managing a uniquely New York character.

The concept of this ambitious development is a mixed accommodation consisting of 65 hotel rooms and residences with hotel services right nest to the Allende dam.

A Guanajuato state government delegation met with the CEO of the chain and other foreign investors, and they resumed that the property is set to open in 2020.

This would be the brand’s first hotel in Latin America, but its expansion plan includes several projects from 2020 to 2022.

The openings of The Chatwal Maaga, in the Maldives and The Chatwal Valle De Guadalupe, in Baja California are projected for 2021. And by 2022 the opening of The Chatwal Lodge is planned, (the latter will also be located in New York).

Government officials are also in talks with the luxury chain St Regis for a possible opening in SMA, according to Pável Hernández, president of the Tourism Commission of Guanajuato.
