San Miguel de Allende celebrates world’s cultural diversity in art festival’s 17th edition

The 17th May International Arts Festival, organized by the non-government organization Civil Society Marches On, was held in San Miguel de Allende May 7-14.

Organizer Luis Ferro de la Sota says that this is a festival that stems out of past times when San Miguel de Allende entered into its “low tourist season” typical of the months of May and September.

“This festival is also an international brotherly encounter as we have traditionally invited representative ambassadors from all over the world to visit us and bring some of their arts to perform for the people of San Miguel de Allende.”

As in years past, all the artistic events were held inside at the Ángela Peralta Theater and the open air events at the Main Plaza, where makeshift stages are set up under the gorgeous colonial San Miguel skyline.
