Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Group to invest 150 million euro in SMA

ThyssenKrupp is a European multinational conglomerate corporation based in Duisburg and Essen, Germany. The corporation consists of 670 companies worldwide.

While ThyssenKrupp is one of the world’s largest steel producers, the company also provides components and systems for the automotive industry, elevators, escalators, material trading and industrial services.

As of a 2009 reorganization, it is structured into eight business areas that fall under two major divisions, Materials and Technologies.

The Materials division concentrates on carbon steel, stainless steel, and material services while the Technology Division concentrates on elevator, plant and components technology, and marine systems.

The company is the result of the 1999 merger of Thyssen AG and Krupp, and now has its operational headquarters in Essen, Germany.

And on Wednesday June 29,  ThyssenKrupp Group announced an investment of 150 million euros and the creation of 750 new direct jobs, as Guanajuato’s Governor, Miguel Marquez Marquez, closed a business deal that will allow the arrival of this firm to San Miguel de Allende.

ThyssenKrupp is the number one manufacturer of last generation automobile shock absorbers worldwide.

“These are excellent news for Guanajuato, an investment of 150 million euros in San Miguel de Allende, Two plants will be opened, one to produce camshafts and the other auto dampers. We are talking about 750 jobs coming to strengthen the industrial development that started 2 years ago in San Miguel de Allende,” said governor Marquez Marquez.

As one of the largest industrial groups in Germany, ThyssenKrupp Group has 6 divisions, 3 of them belonging to the industrial sector: technology elevators, industrial solutions, technology components, and 3 divisions in the area of ​​materials: steel Europe , steel Americas and material services.

Last fiscal year, the division of the company dedicated to auto parts, had sales in North America of 1.9 billion euros.

Along with governor Marquez Marquez, ThyssenKrupp Group top executives Carsten Evers, Timo Krutoff, Konrad Böcker, Peter Wiesner and CEOS, Dr. Peter Klaus Kirner y Thorsten Schwippert, were present at the official announcment in Essen, Germany.
