Major sport brands Nike, Adidas and Puma to be produced in the Bajío

The Taiwanese company Tex Ray opened a plant in Pénjamo, Guanajuato that will manufacture textile garments and fabric items for international sport brands, such as Adidas, Puma and Nike.

Fernando Romero, sales manager in Mexico, said that with the new complex, Tex Ray will double its production capacity. The Pénjamo plant has 150 workers, but by 2017, it is expected to operate at full capacity with 1,500 employees.

This company also has a plant in Sinaloa, where it manufactures an astonishing 600 tons of clothing per month, including polo shirts and sports clothing for companies, such as Walmart and Suburbia.

According to Romero, with the second plant in Guanajuato, the firm anticipates an expected growth of the textile market, because as soon as the TPP (Strategic Agreement Trans-Pacific Economic Partnership) enters into force, the firm wants to build a bridge of operations between Vietnam and Mexico, in order to supply the U.S. market.

It is noted that Mexico is the only country in Latin America where Tex Ray has installed production facilities, the rest of its plants are located in Africa and Asia.
