“Punto Mexico” is a new way to showcase the national tourism offer

Three years ago, the Mexican Ministry of Tourism (Secretaria de Turismo SECTUR) opened “Punto Mexico” as a new way to showcase the national tourism offer, while trying to convey a more genuine and accessible approach for the visitor of the most visually impressive destinations in Mexico.

One of the main interests of the project, is to provide the visitor a chance to travel throughout the entire country in an innovative and tangible way.

Therefore, siete|media, a Mexico based international company, specialized in the use of new media and focused on innovation through the fusion of design and technology, developed 102 tours of Mexico in 360 degrees where the visitor can control the images through a touch screen, which appear in a video wall and this way, be able to travel through magical towns, beaches, archaeological sites, museums, natural reserves, jungles and forests within the country.

This first space of this kind, was located in the lobby of the headquarters of the Tourism Ministry on Presidente Masaryk Avenue, Colonia Polanco in Mexico City, and the idea is to expand this system to all the tourist sites in the country and to certain strategic places abroad.
