On Wednesday July 20 at 7:30 pm, a 22-year-old woman from Russia was reported missing at “comunidad de los Huesos” located south from Celaya municipality, in the state of Guanajuato.

According to Mexico City based newspaper “El Universal”, the woman disappeared after discussing with her partner, Alejandro López. Her name is Regina Popova, and she came from the United States to reside in this community.

Alejandro López told the authorities that Regina came to live to Los Huesos one month ago. López is a native of the state of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, and declared that his father owns a farm in that community.

The Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato opened a “research file” to investigate and locate the missing Russian woman. The initial investigations point out that she left her home on the afternoon of July 20, after having a discussion with her partner  Alejandro López.

On the evening of Wednesday July 20 around 7:30 pm, López filed a missing person report to the Emergency Services of the Celaya municipality.

After that report, members of the Municipal Police, Civil Protection and Fire Department conducted research through the fields and mountains in the south of Los huesos. The operation was resumed on the early morning hours of Thursday July 21, when agents deployed patrol cars, four-wheelers and a police helicopter.

Until 21:30 pm July 21, according to a report issued by the State Attorney General (PGJE) , Regina Popova is still missing.
