Thirty five agroindustries arrive to boost Guanajuato’s economy

According to the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development (Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico Sustentable: SDES), thirty-five agrifood international companies have arrived to Guanajuato in the last eight years, generating more than 6,900 new jobs and investing one billion US dollars in the region, contributing to the great industrial development of the state.

Thanks to an open economic policy, new projects have consolidated in the state, benefiting sectors such as agrifood, and positioning Guanajuato as an investment attraction and trade diversification destination.

Firms from Spain, France, United States, Turkey, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and of course Mexico, have been interested in investing in Guanajuato, where they found conditions for the strengthening of their projects.

New plants have been built in the municipalities of Celaya, Cortazar , Tarimoro, Salvatierra, Apaseo el Grande, San Jose Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz, Salamanca, Silao, Irapuato, Leon, Abasolo, Manuel Doblado, Pénjamo, Purísima del Rincón and San Felipe.

The arrival and settlement of corporations such as Unifoods, Bachoco, Milk Guadalajara, Danone, General Mills / Green Giant; ConAgra, Cimarron, Global Seeds, Mars, Rijk Zwaan, Schreiber, Nestle, Greenhouses Tarimoro, Lalette, Mex Fruit and Ferrero Rocher, among others, have contributed to strengthening the economy of the cities where they are located, as they provide new employment opportunities to its residents .

Some of the items produced and marketed in Guanajuato are: milk and dairy products, candy industry, snacks, vegetables, canned products, poultry and pet food among many others.

Therefore, the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development is promoting staff training at a state level in Guanajuato, so all candidates can have the knowledge and experience needed to enter the labor market and take advantage of employment opportunities provided by these international companies.
