Restauranteurs, hoteliers, tour guides and agents of the Tourist Police of Guanajuato say that the influx of visitors during the current summer holidays is increasing with the arrival of hundreds of travelers from different parts of the country and abroad.
They noted that the greatest number of visitors concentrate in downtown Guanajuato; considered one of the most important colonial and cultural destinations in Latin America.
The tourism sector of the state capital informed that domestic tourists come from the most diverse places in the country: but mainly from Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Morelia, Queretaro, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Saltillo, San Luis Potosi and even from Tijuana; while foreign tourists come mostly from the United States, Canada, Japan, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and European countries such as Germany, Spain and Italy.
Tourist attractions
Tourism authorities underlined that tourists leave a significant economic impact when they visit the main attractions in the city.
Besides, entire families are enjoying their stay and they can be seen at places such as Mercado Hidalgo, Teatro Juarez, Jardín Unión, Universidad de Guanajuato, Monumento a El Pípila, Alhóndiga de Granaditas, Palacio Legislativo, La Valenciana, Presa de la Olla, Museo de las Momias, Plaza de La Paz among others.
