The city of Queretaro has shown its brotherly and friendly vocation, through the Festival of Foreign Communities, in which citizens of 74 different countries who have decided to migrate to Queretaro, presented multicultural activities featuring the best of their history, art, folklore and cuisine, .

In April of this year, during the ninth edition of the Festival of Foreign Communities,  mayor Marcos Aguilar Vega said that more than 10,000 foreigners reside in the municipality of Queretaro. “These wonderful people decided to make our city their home and workplace, and most important, decided to make it the place to raise their families”, the mayor said.

The Festival of Foreign Communities is a clear sign that Querétaro is a city where different cultures have united to increase and enrich the local economy and social structure.

The municipal authorities have proved that they are supporting the social solidarity and the range of employment opportunities for foreigners who live in Queretaro is increasing every day, particularly in the academic, industrial and commercial areas.

Cultural exchange

One of the aspects to be highlighted during the Festival of Foreign Communities is the cultural exchange that new generations experience during three or four days of the event.

Aguilar Vega said that being a migrant is a big challenge, it is not easy to say goodbye to family and friends, and that is the reason why Queretaro welcomes foreign communities with open arms”.

In addition, the mayor invited Mexicans to be friendly with all migrants, “it is time to enjoy and learn from the cultural wealth we have here”.

The ninth edition of the Festival of Foreign Communities closed with an attendance of almost 65 thousand people and the authorities hope that next year this number will grow.
