International Airport of Guanajuato to receive 23.6 million USD investment

On Thursday August 24, Guanajuato governor, Miguel Marquez Marquez announced that Pacific Airport Group “Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico” (GAP) will invest 450 million pesos (23.6 million USD) in the Guanajuato International Airport (AIG) for infrastructure repair and image improvement.

Through a statement, Marquez Marquez said: “GAP will start the works this year, after they observed a significant increase in passenger traffic. This situation will allow our airport to fullfill the passenger’s expectations, an to grow according to the projections, which indicate that by the year 2020, the airport will boast a total of 2 million users per year.

Marquez Marquez announced: “After the meeting with GAP’s committee, we can reveal that it is contemplated to re-build the whole migration area, and create new spaces for Customs, boarding areas, wards and restrooms, as well as an extreme makeover to the terminal image”.

“The design will feature modern airport architecture, in order to provide all users with a better service and a more pleasant experience, as they land or depart from the International Airport of Guanajuato”.

Additionallity, new tracks for landing and takeoff will also be part of the remodeling process.

“This is an important leap on our state development, therefore we must be very grateful with GAP for these actions” Marquez said.

Finally, the governor thanked Fernando Bosque and his working team for the extra investment that shows a great effort and their commitment with citizens and authorities of Guanajuato.
