More than 2 million people visited Guanajuato during the Summer Holidays

Guanajuato’s Ministry of Tourism reported that from Monday, July 11 to Sunday, August 21, 2016, during the Summer Holidays, the influx of visitors recorded an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year.

A total of 2 million 87 thousand people visited the city of Guanajuato, leaving an economic impact of almost 6 billion pesos (315.7 million USD), 18% above the estimated economic impact that the State Ministry of Tourism expected for this year.

In terms of  hotel occupancy:

  • 55% the 875 742 rooms available were occupied
  • A total of 7% more than summer last year
  • Per tourist-night, accounts to at least 908, 668 people, resulting in an increase of 15%.

At a state level, an increase of 17% in arrivals was recorded, in comparison with the summer holidays of 2015. The most visited cities  were Guanajuato, León, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Dolores Hidalgo, Irapuato and Salamanca.
