Salamanca LGBT Parade, honors the memory of murdered trans beauty queen

SALAMANCA, Gto. – On Saturday, August 27, members of LGBT community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) marched along “Faja de Oro” street in the Salamanca downtown area, demanding respect for their rights.

People from different municipalities of Guanajuato and members of the MORENA political party flanked multicolored rainbow flags, which represent their pride and their struggle as a community.

Danna Herrera (a.k.a Jenny Rivera), came all the way from Guadalajara, Jalisco to support the Salamanca Gay Parade for first time. She made a feature presentation as part of the LGBT related activities that took place in this important industrial city of the state of Guanajuato.

In an interview, Danna Herrera (a.k.a Jenny Rivera), expressed that her participation in this event aims at demanding respect for human rights and sexual diversity. She also stated that she longs for Mexican society to show respect and for gay and lesbian individuals’ rights.

Members and supporters of the LGBT community arrived at the main garden where Valentina Ferreti said: “We come here today to honor the memory of a trans beauty queen from Nayarit, who was found dead not far from here, in Celaya, Guanajuato.”

The event was attended by people from Salamanca, Valle de Santiago, Cortazar, Villagran, León and Celaya to enjoy the feature presentations and impersonifications of Jenny Rivera and other famous artists.
