Guanajuato is the only tourist destination in Mexico invited to participate in the “Virtuoso Travel Week” 6 to 12 August 2016 in Las Vegas, and the state government selected San Miguel de Allende as the main tourist destination to be promoted in this important fair.
From 2006 to 2012 San Miguel was appointed as “Virtuoso Preferred Destination”, title awarded by “Virtuoso” travel operator , which is one of the leading luxury travel industry networks worldwide. Therefore, municipal authorities of SMA declared that they are in the process of recovering that appointment.

San Miguel de Allende was selected this year to be part of the “Virtuoso Wellness Hub”.
“Virtuoso Travel Week” is attended by 300 destinations, of 94 different countries featuring 3 thousand travel agencies.
“It’s a unique window of opportunity for San Miguel de Allende, direct sellers and traveler counselors from all over the world are interested in buying our destination,” said Guillermo Gonzalez Engelbrecht, director of Tourism Council of San Miguel de Allende.
Besides spas and wellness establishments, San Miguel also offers different options of tourism such as gastronomy, health, training, fitness, economic sustainability, rural communities, hot springs and natural and organic products.

Gonzalez Engelbrecht concluded: “travelers come to San Miguel to enjoy luxury boutique hotels and spas, but they also visit the hot springs, and other attractions such as “Escondido Place”, “The Mayan Baths” or “Taboada”. And they consume local products, organic vegetables, organic wines, and a wide variety of different items that our municipality has to offer”.
