SMA QUILTERS’ HOST SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER

The recent sale of “Books of Knowledge,” the latest art quilt designed and stitched by the SMA Quilters has exceeded our expectations! Made to resemble a bookcase, complete with books and decorative objects, it was created as a fundraiser for La Biblioteca de San Miguel Allende A.C.

A Silent Auction format was utilized to solicit bids for the award-winning wall hanging during the month of July at Café MuRo.  After garnering quite a bit of attention and receiving numerous bids, Susan Page walked into Café MuRo last week and knew immediately that she had to have it.  Ms. Page was about to place a bid when she realized that she would be devastated if someone outbid her, so she did the only sensible thing – she offered the “Buy It Now” price of 18,000 pesos!

This entire amount will be donated to the Biblioteca.  Susan is the founder of the SMA Writers’ Conference and the Literary Sala and obviously a lover of books.  This piece will hang in the Sala de Literaria at Bellas Artes for the foreseeable future.

The SMA Quilters invite you to the closing reception to celebrate the successful fundraiser on Sunday, July 31 @ 2 – 4 pm at Café MuRo (Loreto 10B, SMA).  You will also have an opportunity to view the group’s Small Works Show in the gallery space, including a variety of fabric and fiber pieces, including wall hangings, woven bowls and jewelry.  And, thanks to the generosity of Café MuRo, a portion of the proceeds of all sales will also be donated to the Biblioteca.
