The “Mummies” attract thousands of tourists to Guanajuato

During the 2016 summer holiday season, the Mummy Museum of Guanajuato (Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato) had an influx of more than 234,000 visitors, and an economic impact of more than 9.5 million pesos (500 thousand USD).

Guanajuato Mayor Edgar Castro Cerrillo pointed out the number of visits  refers only to the Panteón of Santa Paula, because the ‘Traveling Mummies’ of the Visitor Services Center (CAV – Centro de Atención al Visitante) have not yet officially registered their statistics.

“We were able to control the large number of people who visited the museum, because we conducted a logistics program in order to provide an excellent service to all visitors”, Castro Cerrillo stated.

Museum Director, Paloma Robles Lacayo, said that an average of 4,000 people per day entered the premises on weekdays, and more than 5,000 people per day  came to the museum during the weekends.
