Criminals derail train in Queretaro, no arrests made

Unidentified criminals derailed a freight train in motion near the community of San Nicolás, in the muncipality of Tequisquiapan, Querétaro, in order to steal the cargo.

The incident took place around 11 pm, on Monday September 26.

Residents of San Nicolas called the police emergency line 066, to report the derailment of a heavy engine near their community and agents of the municipal police arrived shortly.

The two men crew was reported injured in the incident, and were taken to a local hospital.

The assailants were not able to take the cargo consisting of metal scrap and cement, and fled the scene as law enforcement agents arrived onsite in a matter of minutes.


 


The site was guarded by military overnight for maneuvering. There were no persons arrested for this crime that could have turned into a tragedy of much bigger proportions.
