Don’t miss The Enchilada Festival Guanajuato! From Sept. 23 to 25

‘The Enchilada Festival’ of Guanajuato will take place from September 23 to 25. The National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods Guanajuato (CANIRAC – Cámara Nacional de la Industria de Restaurantes y Alimentos Condimentados) is in charge of this important event’s organization in the city of Guanajuato.

Three state universities (Universidad de Guanajuato, Universidad Tecnológica de León, and Santa Fe University), traditional cooks and 14 restaurant Chefs will be present to cook and showcase the different angles of this traditional Mexican dish.

Rogelio Martinez Caballero, Director of Products of the State Tourism Ministry of Guanajuato, declared that for this edition the organizers expect an economic impact of 350 thousand pesos (17.5 thousand USD) and assistance of     at least 2,500 people.

The event includes different activities featuring “Las Enchiladas”:

On September, Friday 23 at 2:30 pm in the Garden of the Union, the “Enchilada Monumental” will be exhibited measuring up to 50 meters long and divided into 900 portions. All attendees will be able to taste this dish, while “Los Arribeños” musical group, from Guanajuato, will be performing on stage (Mexican music to enjoy mexican food).

During three days, 14 restaurants affiliated to CANIRAC will offer different types of enchiladas prepared by Guanajuato Chefs, with their respective pairings which can be anything from wine, Oaxacan mezcal or a local microbrew ale.

The participating restaurants are: La Taula, El Midi Bistro, El Canastillo de Flores, Don Olé, La Capellina, A Punto, El Tapatío, El Gato Bohemio, La Tasca de la Paz, Van Gogh, Café Bossanova, Hotel Posada Santa Fe, Casa Ofelia and La Oreja de Van Gogh.

The Midi Bistro offers its unique enchiladas in strawberry mole with stuffed duck topped with cheese and ranch dressing with a touch of crystallized Xoconostle.

Meanwhile, the Taula restaurant, will present their mezcal drenched enchiladas, with tamarind sauce.

Without leaving aside the traditional enchiladas that will be offered by all participating restaurants.
