Guanajuato a monster in the automotive industry

Governor of Guanajuato state, Miguel Marquez Marquez attended the “Mexico Automotive Summit 2016”.

During the event, Márquez presented the competitive advantages of Guanajuato for business development, noted that the automotive and auto-parts industries have developed a total of 231 business projects that represent an investment of at least 12.4 billion dollars, generating 88,300 direct jobs.

Marquez stated: “Currently, 763,000 vehicles are produced in our state per year, but we expect to produce 1,408,000 in average, which means that one in every four cars made in Mexico, will be manufactured in Guanajuato.”

The total number of engines manufactured today is 932,000, the projection is to reach 1,810,000. 1,118,000 car transmissions were produced this year, and the goal for next year is 2,320,000. Meanwhile, the current production of tires is around two million, with a projection of 5.5 million”.

Imports of the automotive and auto-parts industries, generate more than 32 billion dollars in products such as casting, forging, machining, plastics, carpets and garments, electronic assembly, cable or wire, ceramics and porcelain, pipes, fiberglass , dielectric, punching and stamping material.
