Japan-based auto supplier Fukoku inaugurates US$ 10 million plant in Guanajuato

On Wednesday, September 14,  Japan-based auto supplier Fukoku Company inaugurated its new facilities in the “Marabis” Industrial Park (Abasolo municipality), with an investment of 10 million US dollars.

During the opening ceremony, state governor, Miguel Marquez Marquez said that this is the 70th Japanese company that has decided to establish operations in the state of Guanajuato.

The governor underlined that, with the arrival of Fukoku Mexico to Abasolo, a total of six companies have settled down in this municipality, with an investment of over 151 million US dollars, and creating 1,388 new jobs. These companies are: Fukoku, Katolec, Shoei, Sanyo, and viscoTec.

This company is dedicated to the manufacture of membranes for brake booster. They have invested around 10 million USD in this plant, and at least 90 direct jobs were created in order to start running the facility.

The main clients of Sukoku are: Akebono, Nissin Brake and Mitsuba, which in turn are suppliers of other major companies such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, TNT in Aguascalientes, J-TEKT in San Luis Potosi, Calsonic in Aguascalientes and Denso in Silao, Guanajuato.

Governor Marquez stated: “We reaffirm our commitment with our main trading partner, Japan. Out of the 9.5 billion USD of FDI (foreign direct investment), that our state has received in the last four years, 3.5 billion USD come from Japanese companies.”

Meanwhile Masahiko Tsubota, President of Fukoku USA and Fukoku Mexico, explained that the company decided to establish in Guanajuato, due to infrastructure services, education facilities, climate and strategic location.

“Mexico is an important location for Fukoku, we have enough space to build two more factories here and we look forward to keep this enduring alliance on going for many years to come.”

Tsubota concluded saying that the arrival of Fukoku to Abasolo strengthens the cluster of the most dynamic automotive industry in Latin America, for the benefit of the people of Guanajuato.
