Ibero-American Art Collection by FEMSA at “Festival Cervantino”

Guanajuato, Guanajuato. – On Wednesday, October 5th, the exhibition “Ibero-American” was formally inaugurated.

The event was attended by Genaro Borrego Estrada, FEMSA Group’s Director of Corporate Affairs division;  Juan Alcocer Flores, FEMSA’s General Manager, and Jorge Volpi, Minister of Guanajuato’s Institute of Culture and Director of the International Cervantino Festival.

For the second consecutive year, FEMSA features an exhibition of art works from its important Art Collection, during the Cervantino International Festival, which is hosted by Casa Museo “Diego Rivera”, under supervision of the Guanajuato Institute of Culture.

The “Ibero-American” collection is composed by a modern and contemporary selection of Latin American art and a Spanish cabinet stamp; establishing a dialogue between the productions of well positioned and emerging artists from Latin America and Spain, one of the most important international exhibitions in our country.

This exhibition consists of three parts:

  • “Past and future”, which addresses the modern Latin American art, through the work of Wilfredo Ramos, who incorporates Caribbean roots, along with African traditions, in addition to the full imaginary mysteries of Leonor Fini and subtle landscape of Armando Reveron.
  • Spanish cabinet stamp” this show first emerged in 1971, when the company “Cardboard and Paper Mexico“, invited the most prominent artists from 20 countries, along with renowned European and Latin American producers specialized in graphic work, resulting in the Pan-American Art Collection by FEMSA.
  • Imagination and certainty a proposal of contemporary art developed in Latin America, offering new ways to produce and see social challenges of our time; includes works by Carlos Amorales, Luiz Zerbini and Gabriel Boils Teran.

During the opening ceremony, Juan Alcocer Flores welcomed all attendees on behalf of the State Governor, Miguel Marquez Marquez, mentioning that it is a privilege to receive these kind of high-end art exhibitions, just as FEMSA has been presenting during the FIC and stated that the doors of Guanajuato are always open to this renowned group.

Meanwhile, Genaro Borrego Estrada said that: “in addition to the exhibition at the Museo Casa Diego Rivera, large format reproductions are being exposed at the “Alhóndiga de Granaditas”.

Finally, Jorge Volpi recognized the importance of Ibero-American Collection and said: “this is the perfect timing to showcase this magnificent exhibition, because this edition of the Cervantino Festival commemorates the 400 years after Cervantes’s death”.
