Mexico and Spain: Gastronomic showcase at “Festival Cervantino”

From Saturday 15th to Sunday 23rd October, a Gastronomic Showcase will take place in Guanajuato with the participation of more than 25 restaurants, and over 30 chefs from our state, the state of Jalisco and Spain, as part of the XLIV Festival Internacional Cervantino.

Along those days, diners will be able to enjoy some of the 25 recipes from the  “Cookbook of Don Quixote” (Recetario del Quijote) that feature some of the mos delicious dishes of Mexican and Spanish cuisines.

The main ingredients used in these amazing and magic creations, are: duels and losses, spatter, lentils, beans with ham, crumbs, corn, gazpacho, meatballs with rice, blancmange, roasted capon, custard nut bread and dates.

Chefs Rubén Sánchez Camacho Infante, Valentín Ruiz Rivas, María Pilar Martínez Fama from Castilla de la Mancha; Diego Huete Hierro and Luis Carlos Garcia by “Paradores” of Spain and “Hostería del Estudiante de Alcalá de Henares”, will be featuring their gastronomic gamma.

Meanwhile, Chef Humberto Toledo Zaragoza, from Jalisco, México; and Maru Toledo, who represents the Women of Corn (Mujeres del Maíz) association, will also participate in this celebration.

Additionally, ten traditional cooks from Guanajuato and Jalisco and students from the “Universidad del Valle de Mexico (UVM)” will be also presenting some fantastic dishes during this festivity.

Among the participating restaurants are: El Jardín de los Milagros, La Trattoria, Bixa, Pimienta Negra, El Diego, Patio Andaluz, Aromas, La Casona del Arco, 13 Cielos, 21 Twenty One, Restaurante Cantina El Tres, Casa Valadez, Rosewood, La Virgen de la Cueva, among others.

The organizer committee expects an attendance of more than 27,000 diners in all the different activities, such as:

  • Gastronomic journals at participating restaurants
  • Fusion dinners between Mexican and Spanish Chefs
  • Tribute dinner to Cervantes
  • Pairing and cocktail dinners

This event will take place at several restaurants in the cities of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato, León and Salamanca.
