Querétaro expects more than 30,000 tourists during “Day of the Dead holidays”

The Querétaro Secretariat of Tourism expects the arrival of over 30,000 visitors during the upcoming celebrations of All Souls’ day and All Saints’ day, that will take place from Saturday October 29, to Wednesday November 2, leaving an economic impact of around 150 million pesos and an average hotel occupancy of 70 percent.

During the Day of the Dead’s holidays, many activities will be complementing the tourist attractions of Querétaro, such as a Monumental Altar, which is traditionally mounted by the Secretariat of Tourism at the “Plaza de Armas”; that is always dedicated to honor the memory of a distinguished local personality.

“This year the altar will be dedicated to the memory of Maestro José Guadalupe Velázquez, whose contributions in poetry and sacred music have been recognized internationally”, declared a Secretariat spokesperson.

Anad besides the “Monumental Altar”, an artistic program will take place at the Plaza de Armas, featuring music, dance and poetry, allusive to the pre-Hispanic traditions of honoring the dead.
