Spanish firms seek to invest in Querétaro

La voz de Querétaro” published that many Spanish firms of different strategic sectors, such as the wine industry, hoteliers, aviation and auto-parts seek to invest in the state of Querétaro.

That is why the “Mexico-Spain Business Encounter” (Encuentro Empresarial España- México), is currently taking place in the city of Querétaro, aiming to merge more than 200 Spanish enterpreneurs, seeking investment opportunities.

This meeting takes place in the framework of the activities of the “Spanish Chamber”, and it is aimed at supporting the internationalization of Spanish companies.

“Today, the business sector in Spain is very interested to invest in Querétaro, receiving information directly from Queretaro’s Economic Development Secretariat, regarding investment opportunities offered by our state, especially in the commercial, services and industrial sectors, which will allow the arrival of more Spanish companies,” said Mayor Marcos Aguilar Vega.

“In this context, the Querétaro’s growth is equivalent to 8 states of Mexico during 2016. In 2014 and 2015, the employment in the state increased around 109% and 46% respectively.” Aguilar Vega added.

José Luis Ferrer Bonet, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, declared that many Spanish companies seek to venture into different business sectors in the state of Querétaro, several of them have already installed their facilities in Querétaro and the Bajio, and look forward to expand their operation. The most important sectors are:

  • Renewable energy
  • Oil and gas
  • Automotive components
  • Aerospace industry
  • Food and drink.

Meanwhile, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Querétaro is constantly on the rise due to the arrival of new companies that have boosted the numbers up to 8.4% in 2014, and 5% in 2015.
