From October 28 to November 2, “La Calaca” Festival in San Miguel de Allende will be held as a part of the traditional celebrations of ‘Day of the Dead’ (Día de Muertos), featuring the “Tunick Project”, with the participation of Spencer Tunick, a prestigious photographer, known for organizing large-scale nude shoots.
According to “La Calaca” Festival website , Spencer Tunick will be creating his next installation in Mexico and they are looking for a number of adventurous participants that can hang upside down for a few minutes!
You need to have upper body strength and be comfortable being inverted for a short period of time. You will be on the ground and not elevated so you will be safe.
In exchange for posing at the “La Calaca” Festival, participants will get a limited print edition of the artist’s work.
If you are interested in posing, go to “La Calaca” website and fill out the registration form ASAP. The installation will take place on the morning of Friday, October 28th (rain or shine). If you have friends that might be interested, please forward them the website’s link.
You will only be nude for a very short period of time. The installation will not take all day.
Most installations by Spencer do not have limits to the number of participants, or require the submission of a photograph. However, due to the specific nature of this artwork, in this case there is a limit on the number of participants.
The organizer committee is asking for participants’ photograph because they want to have a wide range of body types and skin tones represented in the final work.
Although everyone is unique, If you are not selected, it is simply because they have reached the number of people needed.
Organizers apologize in advance to all people not chosen for this particular installation, but encourages them to apply for future works by Spencer Tunick with no limit to the number of participants.
Spencer will be choosing around 40 men, women and transgender participants for this project.
In order to choose a variety of looks and body types, you need to submit one self-portrait photograph of yourself that you take specifically for this project. You can take this photograph with your phone or with a digital camera. You can hold your hands over your body or you can be nude for the photographs that you submit.
Your feet need to be together and closely touching each other, exactly as seen in the sample photograph at the bottom of the registration page. Please send a photograph, like the one attached. Selected participants will be contacted by email closer to the the 28th, with location info, meeting time and further instructions.
