Gas explosion kills one and injures five in León, Guanajuato

An explosion of great magnitude ocurred around 4:30 pm on Wednesday November 2nd , due to a gas leak at “San Marcos” neighborhood in the city of León, Guanajuato, resulting in one person dead, other three injured and two houses and a vehicle severely damaged.

The tragic incident occurred at Gonzalo Curiel Street , on the corner with Fernando Z. Maldonado.

Minutes after the explosion, Civil Protection personnel, Red Cross paramedics and Firefighters arrived on the scene to rescue victims, and conduct the proper investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the explosion was provoked by a gas accumulation, the leak allowed gas to escape, accumulate in the building occupied by a family, and ultimately explode.

The house was occupied by a family of six, the person that died was the father, and the other members of the family resulted seriously injured and were taken in ambulance to the nearest hospital by Red Cross paramedics.
