Guanajuato officials review proposed cable car project

As an innovative transportation alternative, the Government of Guanajuato is proposing a cable car project in order to connect the city entrance with the downtown area.

During the presentation of the new Unebus system, Governor Miguel Marquez announced that his government is analyzing the feasibility of this transportation system for the state capital.

Meanwhile, Guanajuato’s Secretary of Work Public, Arturo Durán Miranda said: “It is a project that we are reviewing with the Municipality, and analyzing with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH – Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia), aiming to give continuity to the Unebus cable-type system initiative”.

Durán explained that: “Just now, it is still an idea, but we want to develop as soon as it approved, once we where will the point of arrival in Guanajuato is going to be, we will start developing the executive project along with all the concession paperwork.

For now, technical and financial feasibility studies are carried out by Iplaneg and the Secretariat of Public Works.

This project will be developed with an investment of the State Government and private sector.

“Right now, we are analyzing the cable car project general idea, based on the one planned from Cerro del Cubilete to Bicentenario Park, and we are considering to integrate Guanajuato with another innovative transportation system,” Durán Miranda concluded.
