Passenger bus veers off road while traveling from Irapuato to Guanajuato

GUANAJUATO, Gto. – In the morning of Thursday November 17, the driver of a passenger bus somehow lost control of the vehicle and ended up at the bottom of a steep ravine, near the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, next to San José de Tránsito, Guanajuato, where at least twenty people resulted seriously injured.

Immediately, emergency services personnel arrived to the site, along with Public Security agents to rescue the injured and take them to the nearest hospitals.

57 people were traveling inside the passenger bus that was covering the Irapuato – Guanajuato route.

The tragic accident happened around 7 am, when the bus ran off the road, crashed against a group of mesquite trees and then almost collided with a brick wall.

25 injured men and women were taken to the Silao and Guanajuato General Hospitals, and some others to an IMSS clinic nearby.

Firefighters, Public Security officers and paramedics from Silao and Guanajuato arrived at the scene to carry out the rescue operation, and the area was cordoned off by State Civil Protection.
