On the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” (Día Internacional de la eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer), President Enrique Peña Nieto inaugurated the Justice Center for Women of the State of Guanajuato, along with Governor Miguel Marquez Márquez.
The Center for Justice for Women, located in Paseo Irapuato, aims to serve women, victims of violence and their children, as well as facilitate access to justice and the process of self-assessment.
There are 72 shelters for women in situations of violence in the 32 Mexican states.
Currently, 31 Justice Centers operate in 23 states and provide psychological care services, as well as temporary shelters, a toy library with experts in children’s development, social and economic empowerment workshops and aimed to help the victims to break free from circles of violence.

Today there are 72 shelters for women in situations of violence in the 32 states, with specialized attention, back in 2014, there were only 29.
The inauguration took place at 1:30 pm and with the presence of Lorena Cruz Sánchez, president of the National Institute of Women; Rolando Zapata Bello, governor of Yucatan and president of the Commission for equality between women and men of the Conago; as well as the president of the local Congress, Araceli González, among other political personalities.
