San Miguel de Allende: “Best Tourist Destination in Mexico” (Food and Travel)

On Friday, November 11, the third edition of the “Food and Travel Reader Awards 2016” took place at the former convent of San Hipólito, awarding the best tourist destinations, hotels and restaurants, and the municipality of San Miguel de Allende received four awards.

In this regard, Octavio Humberto Aguilar Mata, Guanajuato’s Undersecretary of Tourism declared: “It is an honor for us to be recognized for the great effort, dedication and outstanding work of the San Miguel de Allende municipality, contributing everyday to consolidate the state of Guanajuato as the ultimate and undisputed ber cultural tourist destination in Mexico.”

“As a Secretariat, we have to continue working and making way for more awards. Promoting other municipalities in the coming years, and providing all tourists with the best quality services, with a clear goal: to earn their confidence. Congratulations to San Miguel de Allende.”

 “San Miguel de Allende was nominated for six categories, and won first place in four of them:

  • Best Tourist Destination
  • Chef revelation 2016, (Matthew Salas).
  • Best New Restaurant 2016 (“Jacinto 1930”)
  • Best Hotel in Magical Town or Colonial City, Rosewood Hotel received the award for the third consecutive year.

These awards are granted by “Food and Travel Mexico” magazine , that focuses on finding new and better flavors through travel.
