San Miguel de Allende, one of the most expensive Airbnb destinations

Airbnb, an acronym from airbed and breakfast, is a social network that allows people to look for different places to stay in several cities around the world, according to their needs, such as rooms, studios, apartments, houses and even castles.

This community was founded in August 2008, is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and is privately owned and operated.

Airbnb has a presence in more than 34 thousand cities in 191 countries; more than 60 million guests, and has over 2,000,000 listings of properties.

Currently, more than 300 accomodations in San Miguel de Allende are available through Airbnb, and the average cost per night is around $2,664 pesos (133 USD).

According to this review, San Miguel is one of the most expensive tourist destinations on Airbnb in average.

Mexico City has an average cost of around $876 pesos (43.8 USD); Guadalajara, $607 pesos (30.35 USD); Puebla, $480 pesos (24 USD); and even Cancun with an average cost of $1,923 pesos (96.15 USD).

According to Airbnb, San Miguel de Allende is ranked just below Cozumel and Riviera Nayarit, whose average cost per night is $2,840 (142 USD) and $4,226 pesos (211.3 USD), respectively.

Even though the average cost per night for San Miguel on Airbnb is more than $2,500 pesos (125 USD), travelers visiting the website can find options ranging from $210 pesos (10 USD) per night in a private room with two beds, to a fully equipped six-room house with ten beds  for $39,000 pesos (1,950 USD) a day.
