Driving from Ajijic to San Miguel de Allende: Cornfields, transcendence, and a nice, planned housing development

Chuck Bolotin, from Best Places in the World to Retire, his wife and two dogs drive through Mexico in a large, white van.  This story describes what it’s like to drive to San Miguel de Allende, to see the Parroquia for the first time, and to live in an upper-end, planned housing development in Mexico.

As we left the tropical splendor of the Ajijic area and drove generally east, it didn’t take long to be surrounded by farmland. Gently rolling hills dotted with trees reminiscent of Northern California chaparral lightly embraced vast, shallow valleys covered mainly with immense cornfields.
