14-year-old student shots teacher and classmates in Monterrey

Today, Wednesday January 18, a 14-year-old student has stormed an American School in the norhtern city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico; and blasted a classmate and a teacher, it has been reported by several local media outlets in that city.

The young attacker is thought to be a disgruntled pupil of the Northeast American School of Monterrey.

According to El Pais newspaper, the 12-year-old boy was at the entrance to the school at around 8am this morning.

Early reports indicate he waited until he got into his classroom, where he pulled out a gun and blasted a boy and the teacher.

The gunman then threatened the rest of the class before turning the gun on himself in the middle of the room.

Aldo Fasci, security spokesman for the northern state of Nuevo Leon, said: “In the video, you can see the minor take out the gun, shoot the teacher and then another child.

“He is there for a while, pointing at other students, and a few minutes later he opens fire. We have no motive yet.”

Emergency personnel raced to the scene after reports of the shooting came in and heavily-armed cops swarmed the school.

Television footage showed ambulances and police outside the Northeast American School of Monterrey (Colegio Americano del Noreste), south of the industrial city of Monterrey.

No details have been revealed yet on the identities of those shot.
