The S.P.A., is a no-kill animal shelter in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato; in operation for more than 35 years.
They house about 100 cats and dogs. And you can adopt one of their “Pets of the Month” and receive a free adoption kit along with your new forever friend.
The S.P.A. relies entirely on funds given by people like you — through generous donations and bequests,
support of their various fundraising activities, and annual membership dues. They do not receive any government aid. Every single dollar/peso people contribute counts!
You can help them by making a one-time donation, signing up for monthly donations of varying amounts, or by making a donation for a specific item, such as T-shirts, caps, a Remembrance Tree leaf, making an In Honor Of gift, sponsoring a casita, or becoming a member. In fact, the S.P.A. now has virtual adoptions! Virtually adopt a dog or cat there and help them to provide for one of these wonderful, long-term S.P.A. residents.
They will help you find the dog that suits you and your lifestyle best. Even after you adopt, the S.P.A. people are there to answer your questions and help you honor your commitment to your new friend for life.
The cost to adopt a dog is 400 pesos ($20 USD). This includes vaccinations, deworming and spaying or neutering. To make the transition easier, at the time of adoption, you can obtain an adoption kit (includes leash, collar, starter food, a toy and instructions) for an extra donation of 150 pesos ($7.50 USD).
