“Charrería” (Mexican rodeo), not soccer, is Mexico’s national sport…

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto. – The association of charros from “El Milagro” in San Miguel Allende has carried out an intensive work along 3 years, resulting in the 2017 “Charrería” Tournament, which kicks off this weekend.

During the contest, a car will be delivered to the first places in the AA and AAA categories, as well as to the champion of the “Escaramuza Fair” that will be held on Saturday January 28.

Another highlight on this competition, is the presentation of some of the best “Charro” teams in all of México, such as: “Hacienda Triana Jalisco” (champions in Querétaro 2015 and Chiapas 2016) and “Los Ases Villa Oro”, second place in the great event held in Southeast of Mexico last year.

Local charros, Oscar Barrera (aka “The Accountant”), along with Guillermo Salinas and Martín Godínez, made the official announcement of this fair to the national media at Hotel Mansion Virreyes in San Miguel de Allende.

Barrera emphasized the high quality cattle that will participate in this competition, some of these animals were recently brought from the Querétaro’s corrals, specifically from “El Rancho El Pitayo”.

“Additionally, we will offer spectators the best panoramic view of the region, with the opening of a new terrace and the enlarging of our current venue, that already has a capacity for 700 people,” said Barrera.

“This is the most important Charro event in the region, recognized nationwide for its importance. The grand opening will take place Saturday January 14 at the Lienzo Charro and Cortijo ‘El Milagro’, where most of the teams that came from all over the country, are expected to deliver 300 points excellency “charreadas”, Oscar Barrera concluded.
