Despite Trump’s policies, Mexican hats and boots will continue selling in U.S.

León, Guanajuato – Despite Anti-immigration and trade policies carried out by President Donald Trump, hats and western footwear products made in San Francisco del Rincón had great acceptance at the Western & English Sales Association (WESA) Fair that took place from 11 to 18 January, in Denver, Colorado, reported the Coordinator of Foreign Trade Development (Coordinadora de Fomento al Comercio Exterior, COFOCE).

Guanajuato’s Companies, such as “West Point International Hats” (producer of Mexican hats in San Francisco del Rincón); “Tres Compadres” (producer of belts in León), as well as “Reyme Boots”, “Jar Boots” and “Botas Big Bull”, were some of the firms supported by the COFOCE for their participation in this edition of the fair. These and other Guanajuato based companies participated, made new contacts and attracted a good number of potential buyers at the previous SAPICA and ANPIC fairs, according to Zona Franca website.

The key for these Guanajuato’s companies’ success is the high quality and design of their products, which attracts new customers in the United States and Germany.

Edith Alejandra Vázquez, Operative Coordinator of the Leather-Footwear Sector of COFOCE, mentioned that, Guanajuato’s enterprises have participated consequently during 7 editions in the The Western & English Sales Association Fair.

It is one of the most important international fairs for this market. Therefore, five Guanajuato’s companies have made business appointments with more than 35 potential corporative clients, with which they have worked previously.

“14 new contacts from other countries such as Germany and the United States were attracted to buy our products, which in the long term will generate sales in excess of 1.2 million USD” Vazquez said.

Edith Vázquez underlined that, “For those looking for footwear, cowboy boots and hats made in Guanajuato, we offer the highest quality and best prices on the market that other countries simply cannot offer to their customers”.

She continued, “We have an important cluster, a gamma of competitive suppliers, who supply leather soles, insoles, heels, and they precisely grant the higher quality”.

The United States is one of the most important markets for this kind of footwear and hats, that are manufactured in the state of Guanajuato, and this great sector continues growing in the US and demanding “Made in Guanajuato” items (despite the new president’s policies).
