CELAYA – Miguel Márquez Márquez, Governor of Guanajuato, acknowledged that Enrique Peña Nieto, President of México, has an enormously difficult job to face negotiations with the United States, in order to improve the political and economic relation between the two countries. Therefore, Márquez Márquez made a call to all citizens to remain united.
Márquez Márquez declared: “The president has all my support. Today more than ever all Mexicans have to support our president and be united to face the current situation with US President Donald Trump”.
Trump started offending Mexico six months ago, then, again one month ago, now, he takes possession, ratifies and again shows his comtempt against us. That’s why we support the decision of our president to cancel his visit to the White House”.
Regarding the position of several governors that say the president of Mexico should not dialogue with his United States counterpart, Marquez stated that he agrees that this is a matter of dignity and respect, and since Trump insists on building a wall and making Mexico pay for it, he is not showing etiher respect nor dignity.
“The Mexican delegation that went to Washington, did not even get off the plane when they learned that Trump had already signed an executive order for the construction of the wall; this is clearly an affront to our government and our country. These are difficult times for president Peña and for our country” Marquez continued.
When asked about the purchase of new Ford patrol cars for the Guanajuato state police, Marquez said: “the deal was closed prior to Ford’s announcement to cancel the construction of their San Luis Potosí plant, but we are not going to buy vehicles from them ever again”.
