In light of U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday Jan. 20, a movement in favor of pro-Mexico policies has begun to take shape, with the message below going viral on Facebook. San Miguel Times is publishing the message as a service to readers.
Many people have made public their desire not to buy more Ford cars in protest for the cancellation of the construction of a new plant in San Luis Potosí.
Why not do the same with CitiBanamex? If Trump does not want American automotive plants to settle in our country, maybe he would like to take away American banks too?
Fellow Mexicans, take your money away from Citibanamex, which is a “gringo” bank, and take it to the Spaniards of BBVA Bancomer. Can you imagine the world scandal? Or take it to Scottish from ScotiaBank or to HSBC Chinese, or maybe to Banorte or INBURSA, which are the only Mexican banks that we currently have (even though not many people are aware of that). This can be done in a fast, safe and effective way with great results. Let’s show the world that Mexico is no longer the little “ranch” depicted in Hollywood movies.
Mexico is the 11th economy in the world, a country with the capacity to double one of the most powerful banks in the United States (Citibank = Citibanamex), so we have to take a stand, and do something in retaliation to the fact that U.S, president-elect, instead of working out strategies to create jobs in his own country, steals the jobs of the Mexicans through threats and intimidation. And what are we doing? Nothing!
Next step: boycott Walmart! Shop in Soriana, Chedraui, Super AKI or La Comer. There is no difference in quality or prices. Mexico is the second most important market for this chain (Walmart). Let’s beat them without violence. We do not need looters, violent thieves or criminals. Just do not buy there.
Let’s do something concrete and astound the world. Defend what is ours. If we do not, Trump will impose tariffs or veto all purchases of tomato, pineapple, shrimp, Mexican tuna or whatever.
Let’s stop thinking like the Mexican government. They are small, corrupt, very inefficient, apart from timorous and coward, and have shown that they cannot even reopen a road with 20 people blocking it.
Let’s start the citizens change. There are two viable, effective, safe and above all legal proposals. If you are not willing to do anything, at least help me by sharing this thought.
