The Guanajuato’s State Attorney’s Office of Human Rights (Procuraduría de Derechos Humanos de Guanajuato, PDHEG)  began an investigation into the death of three children during a shooting between a criminal armed group and police officers at a farm in “Ampliación Cieneguita” in the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende.

“The confrontation occurred on Saturday January 14, near the San Miguel – Dolores highway, where three innocent children, Mateo, Adrián y Gabriel, ages 4, 8 and 11 respectively, were killed by gunshot”, informed the Guanajuato’s Attorney General of Justice.

In a statement, the Attorney General confirms that Antonio Luna, father of the children who participated in the shooting, is allegedly responsible for the three deaths, and therefore was arrested. Besides, Juana Luna, mother of the children, points out her husband as the person reponsible of this crime.

The GTO state police attacked the wrong house. It began as a case of mistaken identity.

Antoñio Luna, the security guard of the farmhouse, returned fire to warn the “thieves” that he was armed.

The state police shot the house up, killing the children that Antoñio had hidden in the house’s bathroom.

The state police made Antoñio hold the policeman’s gun while they had him face down on the floor, to put his fingerprints on the weapon. His wife heard him exclaim “This isn’t my gun! This isn’t my gun!”

They took both Antoñio Luna and Juana Luna to the police station for “interrogation and debriefing.”

Mrs Luna was made to sign blank pieces of paper that would later be used by police to fill in whatever they wanted with her signature on them. Mrs Luna was told she had to sign those papers or they were not going to let her go.

The state police did not make any public announcement and made no official police reoort that there had even been a shooting until after they had fabricated the stiryvthat they would release to the public, a day after the shooting.

The police and the media have painted Antoñio Luna as a murderer to cover up their murder of the Luna children, and to cover the fact that they even broke into the wrong house.

The United States FBI is also conducting an investigation into the police corruption in this case.
