Jovenes Adelante grants scholarships to local honors students who otherwise could not afford to attend university. The JA scholarship application will go live online January 17 at JovenesAdelante.org. Here are the requirements for applicants:
- Native of San Miguel de Allende
- Grade-point average of 9 (exceptions are 8.5 for CBTIS and university students)
- 29 years old or younger
- Monday – Friday class schedule
- Entering or continuing university as of fall 2017
- For university students, at least 3 years of school remaining * Apply online at JovenesAdelante.org between January 17 and February 26, 2017. To do this, the applicant will need his/her academic history, area of study, preferred universities, family income, financial need, essay, and a black and white photo.
All who successfully complete the application will be interviewed. Those who pass the interview will receive a home visit. Final decisions will be based on qualifications and the amount of funding JA has available, but the goal is 25 new students by this summer.
