According to Sunset Magazine, Lisa Kingsley has the best eye for eclectic minimalism design in San Miguel, as demonstrated in her boutique stocked with goods made by the city’s artisans: tribal-style pewter bracelets, sustainable leather clutches, and oils anointed with attributes like “Good Willing,” made with Mexican orange blossom.
Lisa Kingsley launched kingsley in 2007 as a small-batch handbag collection rooted in her soulful, modern aesthetic.
The use of natural materials, as well as wabi-esque design sensibility define the Kingsley look. Authenticity and an intimate connection to the Mexican artisans who craft her designs are also pillars of the designer’s philosophy.
In 2013, after more than a decade of working closely with Mexican artisans, splitting time between New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, San Miguel de Allende, Kingsley made the decision to move full time to Mexico and collaborate with leather, metal, glass, stone, wood and textile artisans.
This creative journey resulted in the expansion of the brand, which now features footwear, jewelry and a scent collection, in addition to Kingsley handbags.
Historically, Kingsley designed ready-to-wear and denim collections that sold through over 250 retailers worldwide.
Notable accolades include being chosen for the “Vogue 100” group of inspiring women in fashion and business, by us vogue magazine.
Lisa was also presented with Fashion Group International‘s “rising star” award in 2010. A few of celebrity’s who have worn Kingsley’s designs include Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey.
