Mayor of Guanajuato discards an increase in public transportation fees

“The possibility of an increase in the public transportation fees is not a priority for the Municipal Government”, said Guanajuato’s mayor Edgar Castro Cerrillo.

“If the Joint Tariff Committee (Comisión Mixta Tarifaria) hold one or more than one meetings or technical work sessions, that does not mean that the transport fares will go up,” stated the mayor.

Castro Cerillo declared that “there is absolutely no possibility of an increase, even when the gasoline and diesel prices went 20% up, collective urban public transportation units in the city of Guanajuato will maintain the same fees as last year”.

The mayor concluded: “At the moment, Transportation Directorate is conducting an evaluation, along with the necessary studies and field work in collaboration with local transportation concessionaires, in order to determine if a raise is needed.
