By 2025, the number of vehicles will reach 3.5 millions in Guanjuato

LEÓN, Gto – According to data from the Guanajuato Association of Automotive Distributors (Asociación de Distribuidores de Automotores de Guanajuato, AMDA) and the Group of Advisors in Economics and Public Administration (Grupo de Asesores en Economía y Administración Pública, GAEAP), by the year 2025, the number of vehicles in the state of Guanajuato will reach a total of 3.5 million units, that means an increase of 80 percent in the next nine years for this state.

According to the study, carried out on December 2016, 1.8 million vehicles were registered in the state, and authorities expect this number to increase significantly in the next years, reaching 3.5 million by 2025.

In that sense, the aforementioned automotive associations show the following figures for 2015:

  • León: 908,290 vehicles
  • Irapuato: 378,584
  • Celaya: 322,903
  • Salamanca: 191,152
  • Guanajuato capital: 141,220

Data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) indicates that in 2015, 1.7 million vehicles were registered in the state of Guanajuato..

If this projection is correct, by 2025 more than 400 thousand additional vehicles will be circulating in the streets of León in ten years. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles in Irapuato would double in the next decade.

According to the latest available records of 2015, Guanajuato is placed seventh nationwide on number of registered vehicles; just below the state of México, México City, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Michoacán and Veracruz.

In 2016, San Luis Potosí registered 1,015,343 vehicles; Aguascalientes 516, 274 and Queretaro, 512, 754.
