Miguel Márquez Márquez urges to build new hospital and other urban projects

Celaya urgently needs  a new hospital

CELAYA, Gto .- During a recent tour through the state of Guanajuato, governor Miguel Márquez Márquez supervised various projects, and insisted on the Federal Government to build a new Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) hospital.

The announcement of a 50 million pesos (2.5 million USD) for the construction of these facilities was expected last year, and now the Governor declared that is absolutely urgent to start building this hospital in order to provide better health services and also to boost the creation of jobs in the whole region.

“The need of a new hospital prevails in our state, this project is urgent specially now, when the automotive enterprise Toyota is just about to open a new plant here, so this cannot be postponed, and then I’m expecting to hear good news from the Social Security authorities as soon as possible”, declared Miguel Márquez Márquez.

On the year 2016, the municipal government acquired an extended territorial reserve in response of a request made by IMSS, so they allocated five million pesos for the urbanization of the area.

On the other hand, the Governor of Guanajuato announced a significative investment on Sport-projects, leaving around 40 million pesos (1.9 million USD) to build a Sports Center in the south of the city, along with a semi-Olympic pool, taking into consideration that many athletes in this municipality are pretty good at this discipline.

Márquez stated that in the next days, rehabilitation works of the State Sports Unit will start, with a total investment of 20 million pesos, from Federal resources, aiming to benefit at least 44,500 residents in the area.

Paving streets

San Miguel de Allende Street, at “Nueva Santa María” neighborhood, will be paved. With a federal investment of 1.1 million pesos, this project is part of the ‘Social Impulse’ program (Programa Impulso Social).

In this regard, other projects are currently in course, such as the extension of the San Jose de Guanajuato highway, with a 28.6 million pesos (1.4 million USD) investment, and the road to the Celaya’s airport with an investment of 14.8 million pesos (740,000 USD).

Additionally, the rehabilitation of the “Eje Manuel J. Clouthier” already began, which entails an investment of 49.4 million pesos (2.3 million USD) and it will benefit more than 39 thousand motorists who circulate daily in the area.

“In order to carry out these important works, some of the main streets and avenues will be temporarily closed, but the objective is to strengthen the mobility in the city of Celaya,” said Marquez.

New Urban Park

Regarding the new plan of building an urban park, Guanajuato’s Secretary of Public Works, Arturo Durán Miranda said that, so far the municipal government has not delivered the executive project that seeks to build a new urban park, at the former fair facilities. It is possible that we have to reallocate the 25 million pesos provided by the state government.

“The decision has to be taken before the end of February,” Durán Miranda said.

Finally, the Secretary of Public Works indicated that the resource could be used to complete the third section of “Xochipilli” Park.
