On December 2016, Aires de Campo Co. opened its first supermarket in Querétaro known as “Biocentro”. This new store is a commercial space that offersa wide selection of organic, fresh and health itmes provided by the same brand or through local suppliers in more than 400 square meters of construction area.
“This building, designed by Mario Medina, is specially created in such a way that allows less use of air conditioning, with an innovative urban system in order to mitigate CO2 emissions. It also features an educational space for children, a rainwater harvesting system as well as a Tesla system”, said Enrique Hernández-Pons, CEO of Aires del Campo, the company responsible for this project.
Hernandez Pons said that, if the project achieves positive results, the model could be replicated in the most important cities in México, taking advantage of new trends on sustainability.
“Biocentro” is a retail concept similar to a grocery store, however, it offers specialized items.
