Spain and San Miguel de Allende strengthen their relations

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, Gto.- Spanish and Mexican authorities look for strengthening the relations between their nations, through the signing of a collaboration agreement between Casa de España in Mexico and Casa Europa in San Miguel de Allende.

“Approximatelly 250,000 Spaniards currently reside in Mexico, 25% of them visit Guanajuato regularly”, according to information from DataTur.

Octavio Aguilar Mata, undersecretary of Tourism Promotion, attended the signing of this agreement as an honorary witness, in represention of the State Secretary of Tourism, Fernando Olivera Rocha.

“Our region will gain through this great rapprochement with Spain through Casa Europa, we are sure that Guanajuato and Spain will cooperate permanently for a mutual benefit,” stressed Aguilar Mata.


The director of the Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico and Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Spain, Carlos Ruiz, said: “this agreement will allow the bilateral exchange of Spanish and Mexican culture through the collaboration between our two countries”.

The vice president of “Casa Europa” in Mexico, María Abel; the director of Civil Associations and Foreign Community (Asociaciones Civiles y Comunidad Extranjera), Teresa Guerrero; local deputy, Juan José Álvarez Brunuel and members of the San Miguel’s Tourist Council also attended this important event.

The President of “Casa Europa” announced the exhibition of a Spanish photographer, which will be one of the first events that will take place in the municipality, featuring photographic work depcting capital cities in Europe.
