GUANAJUATO, Gto — Benjamín Sánchez Lengeling, graduate from the University of Guanajuato and current student in Harvard University, presented an initiative to create several Science Clubs throughout México in 2014. Today, this program has 1,200 members.
The young man, a Ph.D. student in Chemistry, never forgets Guanajuato and his roots here. Therefore Sánchez gives back his knowledge to the city where he was born, and in general to all Mexico. And today “The Science Clubs” he created carry out several activities in different states of the republic.
By this year, the young scientists will have meetings in Oaxaca, Ensenada, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Mérida and Xalapa during the summer holidays, with the purpose to inspire other youths to be the next Generation of Mexican scientists.
Besides, 150 scientists from several institutions are participating in this program, and come from Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology -MIT-, Stanford, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Research Center and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV), among others.
Benjamin made a strong call to all young people for awake their passion for science and inspire them to work on high level projects.
He also works on transmiting them the pleasure in this area through “dynamic ways”.
In the case of Guanajuato, the event will be held in the University of Guanajuato, Department of Exact and Natural Sciences, in June 2017.
