According to the Government of Guanajuato, the state has received a total investment of $8 billion pesos ($407 million USD) with the arrival of 66 new hotels in the last five years.

On Monday March 13, Governor Miguel Marquez Márquez inaugurated the Office Tower “Centro Stern Wolken” and led the designation of Sergio Ascencio Barba, the new Board Director of the Irapuato’s Association of Hotels and Motels.

With the presence of hotel representatives, restaurateurs, service providers, tour operators, and other people involved in the tourism industry, Márquez Márquez said that Guanajuato is sixth in the number of visitors nationwide.

“For that reason, I am pleased to recognize all of those who contribute with their talent and daily work on making Guanajuato the most important cultural destination throughout Mexico”, underlined the Governor.

After congratulating the outgoing and incoming members of the Board of Directors of the Irapuato’s Association of Hotels and Motels, the governor said: “if our tourism sector is performing so well these days, it is due to the intense work and continuous effort made every day by this valuable organization, which has the staunch support of the state government”.

The state official continued: “Important infrastructure works are being carried out in Irapuato, such as the rehabilitation of the “Cinturones viales” and the “Solidaridad Boulevard”, just to mention some of the main projects for this year.”

Sergio Ascencio Barba, Director of the Irapuatos’s Association of Hotels and Motels, said that this guild will continue to collaborate with state authorities to boost the tourism sector of Irapuato.
